When and where we meet
(in non-pandemic times)

imageBefore the pandemic the James Braid Society met once a month in a pub close to Marble Arch, Edgware Road and Hyde Park. This friendly location is upstairs at  “The Carpenters Arms”, 12 Seymour Place,W1H 7NE, a pleasant, traditional pub which serves food and real ale – tucked away just behind Marble Arch tube.

Though it looks likely that in future most of our meetings will be on-line via Zoom there are proposals for the club to resume "social occasions" when members can meet in person.

For many years when meeting at the Carpenters Arms, members and guests were free to take a drink with them to the talk held in an upstairs room; in fact it was part of our agreement with the pub landlord that memebers would be encouraged to use the bar. Now that we meet on line members and guests are still free to continue with this social tradition by having a drink to hand while watching and listening to our speakers. The James Braid Society is very much a social activity.

Open Invitation to our colleagues

When we met at the Carpenters Arms the club actively encouraged visits from hypnotherapists and those involved in the ethical use of clinical hypnosislivingin other parts of the United Kingdom or those from overseas and visiting London to attend as guests. There is a £5 charge That invitation is still very much open with our move to on-line presentations via Zoom.

Meetings are held on the ird Thursday of the month starting at around 7.15pm and normally last until about 9.00pm.

We meet every month except August and in non-pandemic times our December meeting is usually a social evening at a restaurant.

The Carpenter's Arms is just within the Central London congestion zone, but that ends at 6pm and our meetings start an hour later. Parking around the Edgware Road area is controlled,
