Past notice
Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
(OCD) - an Open Evening

Over the last ten years or so the term Obsessive Compulsive Disorder has moved from being a slightly obscure clinical expression into a modish derogratory utterance.

Everyone now thinks they know what OCD means.

Chat show hosts and magazine writers  casually toss in the term to describe behaviour they regard as  slightly meticulous – or of which they wish to denote disapproval

Inevitably the process of becoming a fashionable phrase has led to linguistic inflation, devaluing the very currency of the words.

But there wasno inflationary language at the April 2008 meeting of the James Braid Society when members and guests used the opportunity to consider how as therapists they can help patients/clients with this condition.
